Hey-so, here’s our first real episode!! I have stitched it together in the ways one does, and two things have become clear to me:

1) I need more practice at editing podcasts, and 2) I talk too much. Not in the ‘I’m a woman and I feel I talk too much’ way (please, have we met?), but in the ‘I have learning to do about Hosting As A Craft' way.

Still, this was fun and A’Ja and I brought a lot of expertise and humor to this conversation.

People in prisonIn 2021, there were 12,850 people in federal prison for child sex offenses. In addition, 15.5% of the prison population was sentenced for rape or sexual assault, according to The Sentencing Project. ⁠https://www.sentencingproject.org/policy-brief/responding-to-crimes-of-a-sexual-nature-what-we-really-want-is-no-more-victims/⁠ 

People on sex offender registriesIn 2017, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) estimated that there were over 850,000 registered sex offenders (RSOs) in the United States, according to the NIH. ⁠https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10038390/⁠
